Marika Cominos – Being Awesome

NAME: Marika Cominos
 AGE: 47
LOCATION: Melbourne, Australia

Yoga & Complementary Therapies Practitioner, Project Manager

As an inquisitive philosopher of life, for many years I searched beyond what my physical eyes could see, knowing that there was more to life than what was being presented. I eventually came to understand and value my deeply felt inner knowing and the enormous potential of what could be lived when connected to my heart.
At age thirteen I joined what was the soon to be infamous, ‘Flying Fruit Fly Circus’ and at age fifteen was appointed as a senior acrobatic teacher learning alongside some of the best international teachers in the world. This was the beginning of a twenty-year acrobatic performing career. Living life on the edge seemed to be a common theme for me from a young age . . . from walking on narrow fences as if they were tightropes, diving off seventy foot cliffs in Canada and hand-balancing on twenty foot of chairs for a living.
I then ditched my adventurous twenty-year performing arts fame as an acrobat for a more gentle approach - finding a true balance in life.
Now it’s the moments of simplicity and connections
with people that tickle my day and make my heart sing.
Relationships with people have been both amazing and challenging - the more I work on developing a true connection with myself and adoring me from the inside out, the more rich my connections are with others
Having travelled the globe and met people from all
walks of life, I have come to understand that no matter how different each person may look on the outside or what occupation they have – on the inside, we are all
the same, all wanting the same thing – to love and be loved.
This is why I am passionate about my work as a Wellbeing Professional delivering and advising on health, fitness and lifestyle medicine; tailoring wellbeing programs that truly support and open possibilities for individuals to evolve towards greater body awareness and self-care.

I started to explore the premise that disharmony, illness and disease in the body is being greatly influenced by how one chooses to live on a daily basis in all facets of one's life...emotionally, physically and mentally. This was the beginning of some profound shifts in my life.
Organisation is my middle name, and making things happen as a Project Manager is also what I love to do. Although I already have a Business Administration Degree (BBA) in Management and Marketing, there is a far more important BBA that in recent years I have dedicated my life to – the increasingly popular, ‘Bachelor of Being Awesome’.  And I must say, it is the most enjoyable degree I’ve studied to date, and one that doesn’t ever seem to have an end.
With a love of butterflies, long luxurious baths, and a deep care for people, I love the diversity of my life and the volunteer projects I give my time to, each one offering an opportunity to share my expression with the world – from writing blogs about life, love and truth, to creating short videos and inspiring others to live a healthy and vital life. Every day I am inspired in witnessing the evolution both in myself and others and the magic that life unfolds.
Well known and appreciated for saying it how it is with care and purpose, I am one super cheeky, sexy, cute and playful woman who can cut up the dance floor with some fine and sassy moves, bring fun and joy to work, and cook up a feast in the kitchen with friends and family.
